ckseals, you did the right thing. He obviously let you know what he needed next by showing you how uncomfortable he was. We are blessed to be able to end suffering for our loved pets and he was blessed to have you make the right choice for him. Big hugs.

Sending hugs! Hard as it must have been, it was a good decision, although it probably doesn't feel that way now.

I am sorry for your loss and the saddness that goes with losing a pet and having to make such a decision.
I have had to make that very difficult decision three times and each time came with it's uncertainties. In the end....the one regret I have is not for our old gal who I was unsure of if the time was right but for our fellow who I wish I had done it a few days sooner.
It sounds like you made the right decision for George and yourself.

I would put him down. I have a hard time with cancer treatments after seeing what my grandfather and my patients go through, I would never put my dogs through that, I love them to much. I would look at my pet's needs over my own, still very sad, I've been there many times And I'm afraid I'll be there very soon again.

You did the only thing you could have done under the circumstances as a loving dog owner. We had to say goodbye to our 18-year-old mixed breed dog not too long ago. It was so very hard. I understand your pain, but you made the right decision.

That is, I think, the hardest thing that we'll ever have to do for our pets. Just try to remember that it was a decision based on your love for him and that sometimes the only thing that we CAN do for them is to let them go.

It is always such a difficult decision, but you did the right thing and it is really the last loving thing you can do for them. It never gets any easier.

My sympathies.
