Put peepers on my 1 yr old chicken yesterday - she seems to have stopped pooping now

I have 3 chickens, 1 Australorp and 2 black sex links.

The one in question is a black sex link who was bullying the other two. So I separated her into my old chick run in the garage.

I found some Youtube vids that said putting the chicken peepers on would stop the bullying.

We applied the contraptions a day ago and after a few mins she seemed to settle to them.

She has been eating and drinking, in a seemingly normal way, but this morning there was a lack of poop, she is still laying, had an egg yesterday, not today, (all 3 seem to be on a day on day off routine.)

They are all fed layer feed crumbles, and a small amount of corn feed mixed in, they have access to this 24/7, and get a small amount of oat and mealworm 'flock party' as a treat at lunch time in a treat ball (the isolated chicken just gets hers off the tarp on the floor. If I have scraps I give them those too. Today they all had a little bread (off the paddle from the bread machine), and an inch chunk of ham fat each. Everything was eaten. They also get oyster shell.

A couple of days ago I gave them some raw pumpkin, it had gone a little shriveled in the pantry, so out to the coop it went.

We have ordered an extension for our existing run, and when that arrives I'll reintroduce the isolated chicked back to her flock, in the extension first for a few days before letting them mingle again.

However, the no pooping needs to be sorted first.

The chicken in question has access to food and water 24/7 as her nesting area and run are the same enclosed space.

She is by the entrance to the house in the garage so gets checked regularly, as does her food and water intake.

I was reading a couple of other threads saying to check her crop and body for changes. I will do that in the morning, she was bedded down for the night before I started reading the articles.

As I was holding her when we put the glasses on I will be able to tell if there have been any body changes in the mean time.

I'll post again tomorrow after I have checked her over, but if anyone has any ideas in the meantime please let me know, any suggestions will be gratefully received. 😊

Its all OK!!

I teized she was having difficulty using the chick feeder once the peepers were i stalled.

As I put her in the old chick run, I also used the chick watering and feeding items.

Before the peepers she was using both fine, then after the peepers she coukd n9 longer aim into the small holes for the feeder!

So her food is just put on the tarp and she is eating AND POOPING just fine!

The coop extension arrived last night, so hubby it putting that together now... she should be back in the flock in a few days.

Yay!

Since she is better, and has the new peepers on, she may be good to go back with the others. The peepers are supossed to affect their aim on pecking at others. Overcrowding, or not gettting outside to roam, and too little protein in the diet can cause more bullying and pecking of others. This is just my advice—I would only feed the layer crumbles, no oats, no corn, no scraps, but very occasionally a tiny bit of something for a treat. Scrambled eggs, canned tuna or salmon, and mealworms are fine, but just very limited, not even daily. The oats and corn are diluting the protein, and layer only has about 16% as is.

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated.😊

I was considering a boiled egg every now and then.

I will put her in the extension for the next day or so, as she has been away for 2 weeks now, so its kinda like bringing a new chicken in.

I will feed nothing but the layer food and cut back on the other things too. Hopefully happy chickens from now on!!
