Put silkie and Orp eggs in hatcher Last nite ITS DONE

They are still hatching. I have about three or four buff silkies and a blue and splash. I have a buff Orp and a blue and either a blue or black. It hasn't fluffed yet. May be tomorrow before I can take pics of them. I can see one more almost zipped and another pipping away.

The hatch is done. I will have to let you know when I get back from church how many I have. I had two eggs that did not hatch. I helped one Orp but I think too late. So I have 3 Orps I know and the rest are silkies. I have another hatch coming off in a week I think. I put them in on the third.

YEA!! Congrats on your hatch! I can't wait! I have a batch of button quail due to hatch on the 24th, Buff Orps due the 27th, and a variety of Cochins due to hatch on Feb. 5th...BUT, I have Mille Fleur d Uccle, Lamona, Jap Bantam, and Wyandotte eggs showing up tomorrow, and Dipsy sent me 4 dozen eggs today (silkies, ameracauna, and frizzles)...That's not counting what's going in in February!!

Crystal your going to have to have a lot of pens and chick starter. I will take pics tomorrow when I transfer them to a box. I have two really beautiful blue Orpingtons. Hope the are pullets. I have one buff Orp. I lost the black one. I should have helped it sooner but I am trying to just let them hatch. When it gets late in the hatch they tend to dry out though and not peck out to good.

LOL I have 5 brooders (they each hold about 30-40 chicks) so I'm ready to go!! DH is building me 2 new coops and 5 breeding pens too!!

I typically find I wait too long to help a chick out. I'm always thinking well if it were strong and healthy it will make it out on it's own etc.... We've all heard the stories of why it's ok to help and why you should never help.

All I know is either way I beat myself up about it every time I incubate.


Looking forward to seeing pics. Have you set any mottled eggs yet in the bator ??
