Since I've had success putting feed store chicks under broodies who had been broody for various lengths of time, and never had a broody reject a chick, I'd personally go for it. I don't think chickens think or remember much past a couple of days; seems I've read that on here somewhere. Being a mommy is evidently a very strong instinct for them.
