I am expecting my chicks to arrive in the next day or two and I have already put together a brooder box out of a 50gal plastic storage container and am using an adjustable height electric brooder rather than a heat lamp.

I was wondering if I would be able to keep the chicks in a small shed. Being in Florida, I am not too worried about them getting too cold (we are in the high 50's-low 60's at night currently) but was more worried about whether it would be too hot during the day inside the shed? We are averaging about 85 degrees during the day right now and have had a couple days up around 90. The shed is vented under the eves all the way around but even then I would imagine it could get a little warmer than the outside temperature and there would not be a ton of air flowing through there.

Would this be ok to do? If so, I am guessing I should turn the heat off during the day and just have it on at night? I know I would need to monitor the temp inside the shed at the heat of the day but what would be considered too hot?

Thank you for any help!

Unfortunately no just the vents under the eaves. I'll have to stick a thermometer in there and see how warm it actually gets.

The reason I was originally asking is that I thought they would chirp all night and keep me up lol. The only place inside the house that is safe is my bedroom. Dogs roam the rest of the house.

They got here Wednesday morning but so far they have been super quiet at night so it has not been an issue!
