I am curious about something..I have a broody banty hen, so I have been looking for a few bantam chicks to buy and put under her, of course to no avail. I don't want 15 chicks as I already about 35 chickens, just wanted to let my little banty hen raise a few chicks (her eggs weren't fertile). I talked to a nearby breeder today that acted like I was crazy, and told me that "you can't just put chicks under a hen and have her raise them". Well I beg to differ with her, I have MANY TIMES put a few babies under a hen and had everything turn out fine. I have never had a broody hen reject chicks. HAS ANY ONE ELSE HAD A VERY BROODY HEN REJECT CHICKS WHEN YOU PUT THEM UNDER HER IN THE PROPER WAY?? Just wondering, maybe I have just been lucky?
