Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

As long as they're not staging a coup....

They probably are. The coo is probably what wiped out my garden.

Thanks.

It's not a digital like you have to press a button for, its the type that has a probe and measures inside/outside temps and humidity. It's meant to go on a windowsill or something and put the wire through the window to measure both the temp and humidity inside your house and out. Alot of people swear by them and it had been accurate so far but just went nutty.

next time, don't throw the digital out. Put in new batteries. That usually solves the problem

Sorry for not thinking to say that sooner!!!

My broody won't let me move her. If I do she stops sitting on the eggs. I am using a bator this time though.

Good luck,

See, I want one of those bullet-proof broodies. The kind you can take off the nest, they go right back to it, you move them AND the eggs, they settle right back in... Well, I've got two Australorps and a speckled sussex on the way! Hopefully one of them will grow into a diehard broody

Maybe! I don't know. I do know, or at least I read it somewhere that seemed reputable, that all breeds can have spangling, if the right gene combination is there. I should go back and look at the comb -- I was looking at coloration and not paying attention to comb type. Bad me!

Ooh, pretty, Chicken Tamer!!! Yeah, I'd be excited for some of those babies too!

Still curious what my Marans mutts are gonna come out looking like.... Nine more days! This is killing me! (and I can't even candle anymore -- seriously, I can't see a **** thing in there!)

I have to admit I like having the digital -- it's got a probe so I can put it inside my homemade water wiggler -- but I think it makes all KINDS of sense to have a backup mercury thermometer, to compare to and to have as a control.

The rest of your advice sounded pretty solid to me, Dandydoodle! Of course, I'm totally not an expert either

Oh yea, I realized when she wrote back that I didn't know enough about the different thermometers to be giving advice. So I think my advice was probably bumpkis.

I think that she should keep the guys where they are and try to find a thermometer that works and keep the temps as stable as possible for the rest of the hatch.

K just thought I would offer. I have some beautiful birds that I hatched from breeder and I saw you have the same kind of birds I have. I am eventually wanting to get to a point that I only have large Fowl and the faverolles and silkies are just such tiny bantams. I am not sure I have fully decided I am ready to get rid of the faverolles yet anyway, they are just so sweet and have such beautiful coloring.

Dang, Michelle, if you weren't all the way in Georgia I'd offer!!! You and farmerboy are making a bantam convert out of me!
