Putting hardware cloth up question

I've used lath screws on both coops I've built and then covered the edges of the wire with another piece of wood (used lighter, smaller boards on the tractor coop and on the Wichita coop we just built, many edges were covered with 2x4s or 1x2s). I like using the lath screws instead of staples because if for some reason you need to reposition the wire, they are easy to remove.

KH, Thanks, I will see if I can find those screws. I haven't bought screws yet for this project. I don't want bare wire edges both for safety and looks as I live in a city neighborhood. The Wichita coop looks nice.

Traps do work as I had that done when they invaded my attic, in this city you are required to have a license to trap them. Since my backyard is visible to workers in the city park violating regs is not a good plan.
OK, so put the trap in a big cardboard box or behind a piece of plywood leant against the wall---In other words---keep it out of plain site.

Good luck with the raccoons. I had found prints around the coop one night so I set up a trap and a game camera. I have heard raccoons are smart but seeing it first hand... it is inspiring and infuriating to watch them get caught and then open the trap more easily than I can.

Coons are cunning critters. When the exterminators were working on eliminating them from my attic they also kept escaping the live traps. the bait would be gone and the trap sprung and no coon inside. I think we only caught on in the live traps. Then they went to kill traps and the final number was 8.
