Putting Hay on her own back

I have a hen I noticed today she kept pick up hay, leaves off the ground and putting them on her own back. It was strange and she seems healthy and normal acting. Any input, or just chicken behavior?
Someone on the list has a picture of chickens with little vests on ... any chance she saw that pic and now realizes she’s naked?

I doubt it's a camouflage thing, I've never heard of any bird that does that.

Sometimes birds just do strange things.
Well Jessie The Chicken Lover and Ole Gray Mare told me it could be the start of broodiness and camouflage. IDK. They seem pretty smart about chickens. You can read their posts in Crazy SLW. started by myself.

Just an update .. probably unrelated but this hen fell very ill Tuesday night. Luckily my vets are excellent and willing to see chickens! Tuesday night I went to put my birds away and she was ruffled up and standing around. I could hear her breathing was bubbly sounding, beak open she was struggling. She made it through the night in the house and today at the vets office she has a fever 108.3 The vet put her on injectable baytril and the whole flock (others sneezing) on tetracycline in the water. Fingers Crossed :fl

I'm sorry that she got sick, but it was good that you were able to see the vet.
I hope they all get better soon.
