Putting marbles in the waterer???

I heard your supposed to put marbles in the chicks waterer so they don't drowned in it. But we can't find big marbles anywhere!!!!

Can I just put big rocks or gravel in the waterer instead of marbles?

gravel works just fine. just rinse it off first.

I have used gravel from the driveway. Just make sure it's clean.

I don't know where you live, but I got my glass (only had squares) pieces at the dollar store. I had only one chick hatch out of some shipped eggs a few days ago and putting a few sparkly pieces of glass in the waterer helped attract him to peck at them, taste the water and teach him to drink!
