Putting my favourite hen down

My hen caught a bacterial illness with swollen face. She just didn't get better ever after a antibiotic injection from the vet. So I made myself do the deed today because to be honest I was avoiding it because of how difficult I knew it would be. I love raising hens and caring for them but having to put them down just torments me. Shouldn't this get easier at some point?!

I'm sorry, my friend just had to do the same thing last month. Her hen had the same symptoms. For me it never gets easier to lose a flock member. Specially a favored one, even harder when you have to do the deed. Hugs for you

Its never easy to lose a pet, and I know for many of us on here our laying hens are pets. I am so proud of you for doing what you had to do. I hope you're doing okay.
