putting two flocks together

We are planning on adding an “addition” to the coop before winter to accommodate more egg boxes and the additional chicks.
Sooner the better.
Have you been thru a winter yet?
Wondering how you will deal with snow on top of the runs.

These are the Day pens.
Wow those are big!
They must be tough to move?
How do you get the birds in and out of them?

Yes, last winter was our first. They stay in the permanent pens through the winter. The snow falls through for the most part. If it gets heavy we just push it off. It's not too bad.

The roofs on the day pens are in 4 sections. Each section lifts off. We usually take the tops off and slide them around. We also have a dolly that we slide under the pen and just pull the pen while on the dolly. My dad had up to 50 birds in each one of these. As they got bigger he would divide them in half. He would move them with the birds in them. We just move them empty because we are moving a smaller amount of birds.
