Puzzled as to what this could be.

Hi all,
I have a visitor on my ranch, actually a egg thief. I heard my hen start to get upset, went outside to look and saw a bird that really looked like a pheasant with a white ring on its neck, but it had a red top like my hen or a rooster. Outside of the red top, it looked like a pheasant... it ran off to the pasture next door. It tried to take my hens egg... upset her greatly. Does anyone know of a chicken that looks more like a pheasant????

Re: Willowbranchfarm's photo, sometimes that gold at the top of the head can be much more extensive, which can make the red stand out more and/or give the impression of a different specie since people are so familiar with the green head.
