PVC Gate: Do you have one? [need pics]

I got pictures!

I use 1" and 1/4" size pipe to make the hinge as it slides over the 3/4" pipe and fittings. Pictured is my double gate known as the "Chicken Airlock". It keeps the dogs from sneaking through under your feet.

I tape the hinge pipe to the post and hose clamp it for stability.

I drive a piece of 1 an 1/4" pipe into the ground so that the gate drops into it.

This makes it so the dogs can't pull the bottom out.

Finally, I finish it off with a bungee cord closing system.

One problem with PVC though. UV light breaks down the plastic making it brittle, so direct sunlight will destroy it over time; usually 1 summer.

It would be best to paint the PVC with a metallic spray paint to shield it from the sun.

I built my first pvc gate in 1996.....It is still functioning perfectly. ;) Just make sure you use schedule 40 pvc or the gray electrical conduit pipe.
