Pyrenees killed three chicks

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry for your losses and this rough start. :hugs Sometimes the best situations start with "trial by fire". My first flock had MS as chicks, it was a horrible first year trying to save them from dying. There were days I cried and wished I had never kept chickens. But I learned SO much in that time, I look back now and don't regret any of it, I love keeping poultry and I am a way better steward to my birds after all the knowledge I gained. Hang in there, it will get better!! :hugs
Thank you!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Sorry for your losses. I would wait until the lone survivor is fully ambulatory and the wounds have closed before putting her out with the ducks. You will need to start looking for replacement chickens for her.
Thank you! After sleeping on it, and seeing her perk up today, I see I do need to find her some more friends. She seems more aware that she is alone today.

I have great news! Thelma is back with her ducks! They were so happy to be reunited that I have to share a photo. She is still missing a lot of feathers under her wings, but her skin is all healed up and she is walking so much better. I’m not sure I would have gotten more chickens if she hadn’t made it through this, but I’m trying this again so she can have some chicken friends. (And not think she is a duck) Do you think she will be okay sleeping with them in their house, or should I move her to her coop all alone? We moved the entire run and coop into our goat area away from the dogs. (Who are supposed to be their guardians) the ducks are keeping her snuggled between them when they are “laying around”. She seemed very upset when I tried to separate them. Just want her to be happy but safe. Thanks to everyone for all the advice-I’m pretty sure it helped heal my heart and give me hope!
