It's an old eastern European method of dyeing Easter eggs with successive layers of dyes, waxing over certain areas before each layer of color, to preserve a pattern. Google for pics. ;)

Welcome to te world of pysanky!  I would write more but very annoyin...two letters on center of keyboard not workin. so I sound like an illiterate.

I use plastic oriental takeout soup containers for my dyes.  work perfectly.
you are already ettin wonderful advice from Meles and I will stop typin now...too annoyin to read .

Thanks, PG! Sorry about your keyboard... But I'll admit to :lau about your tone. Ikwym, tho, I can remember a favorite typewriter breaking the "E" key, so missing the "T" and "H" is frustrating . If you get desperate, have you looked at Character Map, if you have Windows? Look in Control Panel somewhere for it, you should be able to find out what number on the number pad you can type while holding down the Alt key to get a T or H. I have no clue how if you have a Mac, sorry.
