I'm certainly glad they are minature what with these being 20ft or soooooo.....

Could have been burmese...not for certain though.

There was an article in the paper a few years back...uhmm maybe 4 or 5 about a woman around Waldron (which is on the SW side of AR) complaining of a large (she called it monster) snake in her pond, (4 acer pond) she finally got the game and fish commission to come out with the University of Arkansas folks (can't remember which dept.) and they dove in her pond looking for this snake...they said they spotted it, said it was large, extremely large, and left it at that...well, that's all they told the paper. The woman was complaining because it was eating her goats.

I say Burmese pythons. People who dont read up on them before buying them dont realize that they can get 20+ feet in length. Its very very stupid if you ask me. I dont think you have to worry about being swallowed whole by a monster snake in the garage, but I would watch out. Also, I believe they are native to warmer areas, like South America. Dont quote me on this, as its just a guess. I know they run wild in Florida, but I didnt know they were in other places. Good luck with your snake problem.

Its not only the bad reptile owners there are plenty of non native species that are released into the wild. Sparrows, crabs, fish, pigeons, parakeets, rodents..... all of them can push native wild life in to nearly non-existence. Dont forget that most of the ducks,geese and chicken are not native to this continent. It happens every day that they fly off and escape. Its espec. bad when they interbreed with with they native wildlife . Sorry if i rant here a bit but as a responsible snake owner i am a bit tired of hearing the same story over and over again. Btw there are 5 breeds that get over 20ft : anaconda, burmese python, african rock python , reticulated python and i forgot the last(i only have ball python which top out at 6ft)

Yikes!!! Another reason to live up north. I'd MUCH rather live in an area where I have to deal with snow, ice, and subzero temperatures during a few months of the year than an area that's warm during the winter but has huge, deadly snakes year round!
