Hey everyone, my name is Bonnie and I am hatching geese for the first time... This is also my first hatch of anything.
I have 5 adult geese. Don't know the breed, they may be mixed. We took them from a farmer who had to get rid of them. I have 2 mating pairs and I think another gander.

Anyhow, I have been collecting and incbating the eggs. The first one is due Mar 28th based on 30 days. Last night I heard a scratching sound coming from the incubator and I went to check and one of the eggs is wiggling around and rock n rollin... I might have heard a chirp but its hard to tell because I have 21 chicks in the other room in their brooding area. I'm not sure if the faint chirp was the chickens or the gosling in the egg. So, my question now is whether to continue to turn the egg or just let it be? I have about 20 eggs or so in the incubator, some are duds but they are of varying ages. I decided to just put them in as I get them and I pull an average of 1 egg a day from the geese. The rockin' gosling will be the first to hatch (fingers crossed that he/she hatches and is healthy)

So when do I stop turning it? And advise is appreciated. Since I don't know the exact breed I'm not even certain that they are 30-day incubators or what. Please forgive me! I am a former city-slicker turned country-bumkin

and want to do this correctly!!!

Great beginners luck! Go to search on this site and put in some key words-the info is ALL here for you! Lot's of it too! Do not turn the egg anymore, and raise the humidity to 70-80% if possible- a clean piece of wet sponge works well. Try to be patient, but please do the search and read all you can.

I would stop turning today. Today's the 24th. I have an egg due today. I stopped turning it on midnight of the 20th. That's the way I've always done it.

Good luck!!

ok, I figured it was time to stop turning. Plus I already added the sponge for humidity. I did try and read up as much as possible and read that it was stop turning 3 days prior but will stop now at 4. Sometimes the best learning and advise comes from other people and experience... So I hope its not beginners luck... I hope its that I did something right after all that reading
