Hey everyone, my name is Bonnie and I am hatching geese for the first time... This is also my first hatch of anything.
I have 5 adult geese. Don't know the breed, they may be mixed. We took them from a farmer who had to get rid of them. I have 2 mating pairs and I think another gander.
Anyhow, I have been collecting and incbating the eggs. The first one is due Mar 28th based on 30 days. Last night I heard a scratching sound coming from the incubator and I went to check and one of the eggs is wiggling around and rock n rollin... I might have heard a chirp but its hard to tell because I have 21 chicks in the other room in their brooding area. I'm not sure if the faint chirp was the chickens or the gosling in the egg. So, my question now is whether to continue to turn the egg or just let it be? I have about 20 eggs or so in the incubator, some are duds but they are of varying ages. I decided to just put them in as I get them and I pull an average of 1 egg a day from the geese. The rockin' gosling will be the first to hatch (fingers crossed that he/she hatches and is healthy)
So when do I stop turning it? And advise is appreciated. Since I don't know the exact breed I'm not even certain that they are 30-day incubators or what. Please forgive me! I am a former city-slicker turned country-bumkin
and want to do this correctly!!!
