So we are overnighting in run tonight or tomorrow for a few weeks while coop gets built.

We will put up roosting area but do we need to put up temp side walls so they feel safe??

Don’t laugh . . No idea!!!!

I don’t think they will care once it’s dark but Hubbie says hey they might get spooked.

There are lots of variables here. Temperature, wind, rain, etc.
Also, are there predators in the area? They may be fearful, if they see something looking in at them.
Looking at it, I think they will be fine. Just make sure there are no holes larger than a quarter.

You need to secure the HC with more than pneumatic staples. Either go over all the attachment points with large fender washers screwed down, screw boards over all the vertical uprights or hammer in 3/4" poultry staples.
I'd close off the gap between the top plate and the roofing as weasels and minks can gain access by climbing up there. And coons.
The corners where the HC is a little long needs to be trimmed back and hammered down as it is just waiting to catch thin chicken skin and tear it open.
Otherwise, that's a fantastic run!

Thanks Dobie,

Took a few weeks longer than planned but I think he did amazing job with my two teen boys. No one wants to eat any eggs or chicken for awhile tho. :hmm

The HC is run from the post bottom 18 inches down into the ground and vertical up and over the top so no access above, all HC and sealed, but yes things could climb up there and get under the roofing and look down or maybe start chewing IDK.

He put 2 x 4s on the gate seams, and the boys screwed 2x4s on every post around the whole structure to secure the HC and seams.

We will have cameras up, traps set, and will be watching to see what happens. . . .
