Are Japanese considered bantam or standard? I thought they only came in bantam.

And are Rosecombs only black? And why do they get the specific comb name as their name? *haha*

Japanese bantams, only come in bantam size. I've never seen a standard sized counterpart for them.

Rosecombs can come in white, black, blue, duckwings, barred and any combination there of. if someone can dream, you can probably breed it. Black is the most common color. The are called Rosecombs probably just because of the type of comb they have.

Yes japanese are a "true bantam" meaning they are only bred as bantams.
I just looked at some today both adults and chics. Have to add them to my want list. I would like to breed them, I was told they are on the endagered list for chicken breeds.

Japs are their own breed. Nothing like old english games! I use to raise Japs in white, black tailed whites, black tailed buffs, blacks and grey's. My Grey's were the best one's. They layed more eggs, hatched well in the incubator and the hens were better setters than the others. They are very nice birds.
