Quack quack!

Females are loud!Pekin hens and runners are so loud.
I don't have a Pekin, but I do have a runner! I think right now one of my Golden 300 Hybrid Layers is the loudest. Are they part Pekin or runner?!

I'm going to try to bump this thread instead of starting another. I got 6 ducklings from tractor supply back in late April (22nd I think), and one of them started quacking within 3-3 1/2 weeks. The others STILL aren't quacking, and she's full throttle WAAH WAAAAH now. I know I have 2 drakes, but the others I don't know. Some of them still peeping, and a few have a lower tone for now. Not sure if that's mid-change or if they're just drakes. It's hard to tell who is doing what because they run as such a tight group. Is there a shot that I have any other females at this point? The one black Swedish really raised the bar quacking so early and that's gotten me concerned about the others. It would be just my luck to end up with 5 drakes when I went there to only get 2 or 3 females and no drakes.

If some are still peeping, you may have more females, but I'm not sure on that. Some ducks quack earlier than others.
Maybe someone else knows?

I'm hearing several low grunts, so I probably have more than two males. It's been awhile since I picked them up, maybe it's time to try that out and see what comes out of them. If I have more than two males, I'm going to have to take them to the swap meet and order some more ladies from Metzer. I'd really like some Silver Appleyards, but it appears no one that sells them sexes them.

I hope you don't have too many males!

I had the same problem with Anconas. I really wanted some but couldn't for the life of me find someone that sold sexed 'lings! I'll let you know if I find anybody in the near future that sells sexed Silver Appleyards.
