QUAIL AVIARY

I took firewood halves and drilled holes on the sides big enough to put sagebrush limbs. They constantly hide under them. Cool natural look also.
We have a similar looking pen that used to house our chickens a year ago. We have heard that Bobwhite Quail do not climb.

Do yours climb up that ramp I see in the picture?

We were hoping we wouldn't have to re-work the coop. We will be putting 3 adult pairs in ours (6 total). The floor measurement is 4 ft. x 6 ft.

They do now from time to time. Still prefer to stay on ground level.
You said 3 adult pairs! That’s not a good ratio which should be 1 male for 3-4 females.

Bobwhite quail are best kept in breeding pairs. They can be very aggressive towards each other during the breeding season. You can keep a group as long as you can separate them into pairs for the breeding season, as outside the breeding season they will form coveys in the wild. Coturnix may be a better option if you want to keep a group.

Quail won't use a coop usually. They are happier roughing it, tucked up in a pile of straw for the night, so it's important to give them shelter from the wind.

Quail(bobs) are ground birds and prefer to walk.
But if they want to be or get somewhere they have that wing/leg versitility and will opt for one or the other or both. My nest box is 3 feet off the ground (no ramp or anything) other than the 10 ich open front, if they want up there the just hop and fly up. Or lay eggs all over the place.

To make it really exciting put one of my dogs in there with them...he hehe.
I know what you are saying, but most just need room to move around and stretch their wings about once a week. Quail are more a ground bird and only take flight at last resort, when spooked as to evade (quickly) and maybe to roost.
I usually add a small brush pile and a few hiding spots. But if you get into collecting eggs, then keep in mind that you will want to be access the areas as well.
All quail like a sand box, and you can add some powdered seven dust to the sand to help keep the mites down (if any). No need for the plastic shovle and bucket though! :D
Some might call that exercise ;-)
