Thanks. I am loving my Bantam Rocks. I have 6. They turned 4 months old on Feb. 1st. Laid their first eggs feb. 1st. 3 eggs first day. Now its day 17. They have laid 55 eggs in 17 days. 5 a day for the last 3 days. One today was 2 and 1/2 times bigger than first eggs. I marked one of the first to check size. Some one told me they would get a little bigger for several weeks. This one today was a little smaller than a normal store bought small. And the shells have been very strong. You have to mean it when you go to crack it.
Next time i order barred rocks i'm getting bantams, they look very cute. How old are they? i also like your extra chicken, it has very nice colors in it.
Thanks, they are 18 weeks old in that first picture of them. That was last weekend. I may add another couple bantams to the mix. Maybe some blue Orpintons bantams. They may be hard to find. I see them on the web but don't know where to get them.
She looks just like my two OE BB red.
This in Gertie when she was young
Not sure which black was Gertie when hatched. Sorry to say a snake got the other black one back then. But the red dude is Regis after he hatched, a OEBB Red.
I find both my female OEBB reds are very talkative but very sweet.
They are sweet but won't take no gruff from bigger birds.

Sorry , but the color of your hen is called Brown Red, not BBRed ( Black Breasted Red), do a google search for both colors and you'll see the difference.

Thanks for the information! Will have to check that out. That would explain why her and my BB red Nigel have thrown 3 roos with combs and long tails unlike Nigel that has a straight tail and no comb or waddle. Photo of Nigel on this post #28, https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3147196#p3147196
I don't breed chicken, just love having them for pets and eggs. I bought the pair as OE BB reds, so guess the seller goofed. But I love them just the same.

I looked at the pic of Nigel and he is also Brown Red, not BB Red. However they are still Old English Game bantams like the seller said. The reason why Nigel doesn't have a comb is because it was dubbed off, which is required for Showing OEGs. So you should expect for their offspring to have normal single combs. His tail is a bit shorter than OEGs should be, but that may be because of molting and he hasn't grown them back yet. So basicly you still have some nice quality Old English Game Bantams (OEGBs) however thay are Brown Red colored instead of the BB Red color that you were told.
Thanks for the great information! You learn new things all the time in the chicken world. I have had Nigel a couple years and his tail never gets any bigger than you see in the photo. But his off- spring have the several long flowing tail feathers and different coloring.?
I do think it is more important that you corrected me so I do not post them with ID error for others who may be learning to ID their chickens. Thanks!
