and i would just wait until you can ID them visually and then separate them as need be. just keep in mind anytime you move quail you breaking the pecking order. so they will have to reestablish this order in a new pen and when they do that as large birds(adults) they will kill each other. just be careful most people learn these things the hard way so make sure your asking questions to tthese guys on here before you do anything your unsure of. with bobwhites, dont go on a whim. youll loose and they will kill one another. good luck 100 chicks to start with is a whole lot. all or nothing!

As infants (the first couple of weeks) they haven't quite got the devil in them yet, but when they get to be 7-8 weeks......look out, the tests begin. I raise Georgia Giant Bobs, and put them on 1/2" wire on the 8th day....have done 7th day. As long as the temp is warm enough so they don't pile and keep one on the bottom with his legs pushed through the wire to the point he can't recover, this plan will work.......again with bigger than the normal Northern Bob.

Sexual Seperation Wont Need To Happen Until Late Winter Early Spring... They'll Be Pushin 12+ Wks Old Before You Could Even Tell Male From Female. Biggest Thing With Bobs Is Space...and Lots Of It. They Are The Junkyard Dogs Of The Quail World. As Sugested Earlier About 7 Wks Or So. The Party Really Begins And It Just Gets Worse As It Goes.
