Quail broken leg turning green

Thanks everyone. He's doing fine I let him outside with everyone yesterday. I think I freaked out cause the wounds was green
It's a boy and bigger then my other boy I'm hoping can breed with it now. We shall see, the lil quails are attached to him and sook when I separate so he's doing a good job

Still swollen but going down

He's looking better today, I'll take a photo later. We ended up treating wound like would a humans. It's gotten better i think it'll heal wonky didnt put splint on him but he's very quick and talkative
Can you please share what you did for him? I have a quail with a swollen joint and she's limping, don't think it's broken, but trying to figure out what i can do.

For a sprained/strained leg, separate her, keep her warm and off of the leg as much as possible. To do that, put her in a small enclosure for a few days with her food and water very close to her.

Pictures would help.

Hi, thanks for your response. I have done what you've suggested so far. But I was wondering if it can be wrapped, but I'm scared of making it worse because she really hates being held. I'll attach some pics, please excuse the mess, difficult to keep her clean as she has to limp through her droppings.
I'll try for a better pic once I clean her up. Any nutrition or vitamin suggestions?

doesnt look super bad. Mum cleaned the quails wounds with betadine ointment it helped fine, just change bedding daily. fresh water and food, you can put chux down so non slippery floor on top newspaper

I had my quail in with baby quails but you dont have to do that its more chance of it getting dirty
I might suggest spray with mite spray if you have a problem with mites, they seem to feast on sick quails

If its covered in poo the sore you can wash away in warm water

That seriously needs to be cleaned. That will give you a much better idea of the extent of the injury.

You shouldn't need to wrap it, especially if that will stress her out further. Some Save-a-chick or Nutri-drench wouldn't hurt, but that's just for a temporary energy boost. If she's kept warm, quiet, and clean, you should see definite improvement within a couple of days.

Okay, thanks much. No mites, thank God. I don't think there's a cut or open wound, it's swollen around the joint. The dark spots are poo... I'll be doing a mild salt & warm water wash.

It was cleaned, Ive been doing as much to keep her warm, quiet & clean. She constantly has to be cleaned, which is impossible to keep up due to time constraints. She eats well and then sits in her poo due to the injury. Also aggravates her to be held and cleaned constantly 🤷‍♀️.
I've never heard of those supplements (it's my dad's quail & hes a novice) but I'll look them up, thanks.
