Quail cage attached to the chicken coop (no mingling of birds)

I'd like to attach a quail cage to our chicken coop. The cage would be 7' long, 2-3' deep and 2' high so there will be room for 1 male and 6-8 female quail in there. The different species if birds will not mingle or come in contact with each other. the quail will have a run that is fenced off just for them with hardware cloth while the chickens and ducks to the free ranging thing during the day. If the birds are not actually in contact with each other is there still a risk of one species giving the other some kind of funky avian disease?

Some diseases can spread through the air or through feather dander such as Marek's. So, I would say yes.
