Hi! So I'm new in the quail community and I absolutely have no idea what this behavior is. One of my Japanese quails seem to be playing with the other quail, as in pouncing, flapping its wings, and running around the pen. The other quail seems to just go along with it and sometimes does it back to the other, but not as often. Not only that, but sometimes when I lay the food down for them to eat, one of them pushes the other way so it can eat first. The other one that was pushed away seems to be afraid of eating in the same area as the other one. Although, at the end of the day they still manage to cuddle one another and sleep perfectly fine next to each other. I can't tell if it's mating behavior or not for I have no idea what the sex is of the quails. Is this a sign of aggression? Do I need to separate them?
