My lil quail got his face pecked by his sibleings and lost alot of blood at 2 days old. I thought he wouldn't make it but he bounced back just slightly tinier. Tonight though he just got... droopy. He's sleeping really hard I keep thinking he is dead everytime I look into the brooder. I got him to drink a little water with some electrolytes in it just now. that got him walking around for a minute but now he's back to sleeping in a corner. He's also breathing through his mouth but I think that is do to the damage the other chicks did to his nose. He's barely the size of my pinkie he's too tiny for me to really do anything, all I can think to do is make him drink electrolytes. Any one have an idea of something else I can try :(

Have you tried separating him from the other chicks? I had a quail a few days ago that died because another quail pecked near its beak. Try putting something in the brooder for the chicks to peck at, it will distract them from pecking at that other quail.

Hope this helps!

I would separate him and put him in his own little cage with a heating pad on low or a water bottle under some rags. (I use an old 10 gallon aquarium with a mesh lid) Then if they seem distraught at being alone, you can place the tank inside the enclosure with the rest of the quail and they settle down a bit. Adding a little bit of apple cider vinegar to their water has seemed to work wonders for me. They bounce back a lot quicker. Also, if he's not too little, I've had good results with dissolving a little food in water and feeding it to them with a syringe. You can wrap them in a washcloth to calm them, and put your fingernail in the side of their beak, at the top, and separate it just enough to get the syringe in. I've found a syringe to be an essential item to have with quail. Mine seem to beat each other up a lot more than my chickens ever do. Good luck!

He is already seperated out, I forgot to include that. What I thought was him breathing funny is his beak has been pushed in funny by the pecking. He already has a full little crawl, and i added apple cider vinager to the water and he drank a little, so now he's back under the heat lamp. Thanks all.
