QUAIL CHICK WITH GROWING SAC

Our quail chick hatched just minutes ago but there is a big problem. When he hatched his bum was all red and puffy and now it is growing into a sac and leaking some liquid. He is lively and happy but cannot walk yet. Is thid serious!?!?

It sounds like maybe he's having problems absorbing his yolk sac. I've had a few chicks who have hatched with their yolk sac outside of their bodies, sadly, they don't usually make it. I hope yours does, though. I don't know how serious it is, but seeing that it has been 8 hours since you originally posted this if he is still doing well that would be something positive.

Oh! I'm so so sorry! That's so sad! But just know that God doesn't miss any little chicks. I hope you got some more babies from this hatch and that they are all doing well.
