I told her not to name him. Today mom told me his name was Scooter.
We're hatching quail for a friend, one or two came out with some little toe issues which have sorted themselves out. Except Scooter. Immediately from pulling him still kinda wet from the incubator his leg, wasn't right. I've been insanely sad, crying basically every time I've seen him, just seeing him so ACTIVE and excited to see food, wanting to run around, I've been thinking over and over in my head "he doesn't even get a chance" but I guess I haven't been thinking "how do I give him a chance" or if it's even possible.
It doesn't really look like a hobble would work, I tried putting one on a bit ago, but both of his legs went out entirely behind him and he just laid there. Should I try putting him in a shotglass, see if I can get some strength in his legs, no matter the direction that one is going? If he can learn to stand and 1. not suffer 2. eat and drink on his own, I'll make him a palace of a hutch to live out his 2-3 years of quail life in. I tried looking for threads, but couldn't quite find something similar.
It doesn't show in the photos but this little mans is spicy, he can't walk but boy does he scoot, he's really fast and determined I like to think, I've been dropper-ing him water and he eats the ground up crumble with the rest.
Him mid-scoot, see how the one leg sort of goes entirely underneath him, backwards?
He's got one normal leg and one that doesn't seem to work quite right... Do you think it's possible or is this hopeless?
