Looking for advice/ help
Lost one of my 3 day old quail chicks yesterday it wasn’t eating or drinking and just slept under the brooder plate. It than looked as if it was struggling to breathe and was gasping air and eventually died. Today one of my 3 week old quail chicks been similar.Been Very lethargic not eating and drinking and basically just sleeping all day, making these little cry noises. was all lively yesterday. It snuggled up into me and suddenly stopped breathing.
Chip was special because I helped it hatch it was shrinkwrapped to the shell and after 24 hours was still not out.thought I would loose him so was quite chuffed it made it to week 3. So maybe something didn’t develop properly?
However Made appointment with vet on Saturday I am worried I have coccidiosis although no signs of loose stool or blood. So worried I am loosing my babies.
As I was typing this I lost another 3 day old chick. Anyone got any ideas.

Sorry about losing your quail. I know about chickens, but not quail. With losing 3 days olds, it sound possibly like a problem with the hatch or an infection from the incubator. With the 3 week old, coccidiosis might be a problem. Do you have amprollium (Corid) or coxoid to treat them?

For more advice I would also post on the quail forum here and click on the blue box in the center of the page “post new thread”

Sorry for your losses.
:hugs

Can you post a picture or two of your brooder setup?

Do you have a thermometer in there, if so what is the temperature?

Where did the hatching eggs come from, your own birds or did you buy these eggs from someone?

If they came from your own birds what do you feed your birds?

Have a vet appointment tomorrow to get coccidiosis treatment as I wasn’t able to find anywhere to buy online.

If they came from your own birds what do you feed your birds? Harrogates quail pellets, cucumber, broccoli, millet spray
