I am still searching for the un-medicated because I am wanting to pickle some eggs and I have a problem of eating eggs from medicated fed birds

...will probably want to grill a few extra roos also, but the birds themselves will be fine on it. Do you eat any of their eggs from birds on medicated feed ?

Hey Steve,
I know its common to consider medicated GBS as bad. I respect your feelings on the matter. I use non-medicated myself. But I know of a few breeders that can only get medicated in there area and use it with no problems. One friend, who I won't out, eats a lot of pickled eggs from his birds too. While he IS a little "outside the norm" I dont think the medicated feed has much to do with it...

I was told by a few vets/vet techs that the amount of medicine 'left' in the eggs is negligible. I've been feeding medicated to my quail pretty much since I've had them and have used their eggs for pickling, deviled eggs, and so on. No one has had any adverse reactions to them.

You may have wanted to point that out from the get go. There are actually people on this board, that have contacts through this and other networking sites that may be able to help you out, but may or may not be put off by the gotcha scenario.

I'm not saying that I'm one of those people, but I play one on TV.

You can make nesting boxes from now on. No quail is a chicken. Do not treat them as such, and never confuse the two.

If you wish to redirect your question, and be very species specific, then I'm sure folks with appropriate knowledge will be happy to help you out. "I want to raise quail" just doesn't cut it....at least for me.

what i mean by the nest box's and chickens is that the coturnix quail have got somewhere to hide away from the ex batterry chickens and lay there eggs.

there in a realy big enclosure where there will be able to stay away from eachother there is a yellow net between them its just incase one of the chickens sumhow manages to get through.
