If you have movement, it was not 115. The new thermometer is probably wrong. You should calibrate 2 thermometers at least, for the next hatch, that way you’ll really know what the temp is. Good luck with this hatch, I hope they’ll all come out well!
 
Today is a sad day. It's day 22 on incubation.. none hatched. Opened up one to find a dead chick. The temp has been hovering around 35.8. not the best. Buyin a new incubator. I hate mine... Just found it also leaks :(
 
Well! Have I got a story to tell. Bought Celadon eggs. Incubated Celadon eggs. Already had eggs in two incubator s so these went in third which is a Jonell(sp) goes by good mother. Hatched other eggs one week before Celadon are due to hatch. Cleaned and sanitized incubator after chicks moved to brooder. Plugged in sanitized incubator to dry. I have a plug thingy that changes my two socket plug to a six socket plug. When I unplugged the sanitized incubator from the six socket it pulled away from the wall. This was around 8pm. At 12:30pm the next day I noticed the light was not on the good mother with the Celadon eggs and discovered what happened.
I plugged it back in and made arrangements for more Celadon eggs. 16 hrs without power ,what would you do? That was Tuesday, I put them in lockdown on Saturday. The breeder I bought them from said they should hatch day 17. All the others I have hatched started on day 16. I assumed it had something to do with the temp of my incubator s. I like to hatch in my Brinsea or Nurture 360 so I can see what's going on and controls humidity better. I was determined to give them a chance so was going to let them go 19 or more days.
Day 16: nothing
Day 17: nothing
Day 18: I have more eggs coming so I'm gona throw these out and start over.
I'm in the kitchen tending my week old chicks and hear a peeping. Wait, that's not coming from here. Oh dear, my husband told me one of the babies got out this morning so I needed to keep it zipped. Maybe it was more than one that got out.
I'm walking into the living room, where the incubator is and see movement. 7 little chicks. OMGoodness, how? I ended up with 10 of 25 Celadon babies.
Three possibilities come to mind.
1. The plug didn't come completely loose at 8pm but later
2. The eggs were in 5 rows of 5 and the outside eggs kept the inside eggs warm
3. I read an scientific study comparing wild type to celadon. I don't even remember what the experiment was but one thing I go from it was that Celadon had a better hatch rate when their humidity was 5-10% higher than wild type. To get and keep a higher humidity I had put a washcloth in the bottom of the good mother and kept it soaked. When the electricity went off, the warm, wet, cloth gave off enough heat to save some of the eggs.
Personally, I think it was a combination of 2 and 3. But it could have been all three or none. I just know I have 10 Celadon babies I didn't expect on day 18.
Oh, and yes, I have 25 more cooking at 99.5 in Good Mother.
 
Does anyone know what color this chick will grow up to be?
