hey all!
This quail is a unique one in my group. Does anyone know what the color is called? I'm just curious as a first time quail owner! (She/he is the biggest too, I call it "Big Bertha" in hopes its a female 😂)

it looks like a rosetta male bird. @Fenrisulfr what do you think? @muddy75 what about you?
With that picture I’m leaning more toward Red range on color and of course only way to tell sex would be by vent, or crowing/laying......my Rosettas are much deeper red/brown coloration (similar to Tibetan with “lacing”)

I still have difficulties with the US names of the colors.

I agree to muddy, that "Rosettas" as far as I read till now is more red-brown. My Rosettas are Italian/Tibetan Mix.... the incomplete dominant golden of Italian does an intermediate mix of brown/golden, make em redish brown.

I guess, that something other than Italian is lighten the brown in this case.
This is the wonderful in Tibetans, they can do so much coloring.

My sixth sense tells me, that there is maybe some silver in ... but it is not logical, as silver is ressesiv.

But the color would fit.

Nevertheless... a beautiful bird !

P.S.: ... oh is also everytime difficult, as digital photosensor and light diffusion causes a difference.
