More than two weeks ago, a male gambel died with his eyes swollen. His eye has been swollen for more than a week, at first, he still ate and drank, gradually he became weaker and weaker and died. I tried to give him eye drops, but it did not work. He had no other respiratory symptoms, like sneezing, coughing, discharge from eye or nostril.
This evening I found a female gambel died in a nearby cage. Yesterday she just seem a bit lethargic but still eating, so I did not pay much attention. When I picked her up I found one of her lower eyelids are red, though her eye does not seem swollen.
I'm not sure if these two are connected. Have they got any contagious disease or it's just coincidence that they both have eye problems one after the other. They both have two other gambels with them in the same cage, so far, they seem to be well.
