quail dust baths

I don't know what DE is but I don't like the sound of it.

Here is my 1/3 sand, 1/3 fire place ash, 1/3 sawdust quail dust bath.. she looks pretty happy!

DE is on my list for next weeks trip to farm and fleet. I also need to source a gamebird/turkey starter. My grandma puts DE in the doghouses an no fleas. I've also heard its a natural wormer...

Ah ok I see.. so does it get rid of fleas and mites and all those sort of things? I wonder if I can get it here.

What are the benifits of charcoal in grit? Is it just like the stuff I cook with?

It is in the pesticides eisle at out farm store here. Food grade is expensive and the only place I know where to find is online...

Not sure about mites, I assume so. Fleas YES!

Since it's been so hot I grab wet sand from the lake, they all will stand on it to cool their feet, kinda funny to watch...
