Several months ago I heard a Podcast with a guy called Moonvallyprepper talking about raising quail. I live in the city and was looking for an animal to raise to help reduce our meat bill to support my pale diet. After hearing the podcast I pretty much decided that quail would be my animal of choice. Well now several months later we now are 5 weeks into our experiment with the quail farm and things are going really well. We now have 32 birds that are producing 20 eggs per day and expect that to increase to about 25 per day in the next week or so.

As I stated earlier the whole reason for deciding to raise animals was to improve the quality of the protein that we were ingesting. I have done many things in the past couple of years to improve my health:

Lost 220lbs (I was 465 now I am 245)
Stopped using toxic chemicals on my body
I make sure to get outside as much as possible to get fresh air and free Vitamin D
We got a sea Kayak and I try to get out on the water as much as possible (great for exercise and more importantly it is extremely relaxing)
We garden more (not been very successful there yet)
Started a mini food forest in the front yard (Planted two pear, and three hazel nut trees)

So I really want to get the most out of our new protein source. That being said it is kind of frustrating getting the raw egg out of the shell of quail eggs. And I think there are many people who seem to feel the same way. I am surprised by the amount of people who raise quail and don't do anything with the eggs other than incubate some and then throw the rest away. I know that is not the norm for this community but that does seem to be the norm for many others.

Well thanks to Moonvallyprepper I have found a great way to get tons of tiny little sunny side up fried quail eggs. The Quail Egg Cutter. We just received ours yesterday and it is awesome. I had 15 perfect little sunnyside up quail eggs for breakfast this morning it was both incredibly tasty and fun. I did a little video review of the device if over on my blog if you want to see how they work.
