Quail Egg Hatchers to Buy from

Hi! I need recommendations on places to get quail eggs from. I'm looking for new blood and a lot of different color varieties. Any places that you guys trust?

The two that I would recommend are Myshire Farm and Thieving Otter.

I got random eggs on eBay last year, hatch and birds were great. This year (wanting new blood and colors) I went with mixed hatching eggs from thieving otter, due to shipping stress (saddled air cells) I only hatched 11/40 eggs. The colors and birds I did get were gorgeous but I wasn’t very impressed with the temperament of most of them, one chick was mean at two weeks old! Another tried to murder any and every bird it met at 6 weeks. Several others were aggressive and the whole bunch was super jumpy, I’ve never lost a bird to bonking but I lost two in 12 hours (in a 12 inch high pen) because they’d jump at everything and nothing. I’ve raised a dozen batches of chicks but never had a batch this wonky. I kept 2 birds out of the whole hatch, I wanted new males and I had plenty but only one had a temperament I wanted to keep, the other was the only hen! Not sure what the issue was, the quality of the birds was great but was not impressed with the attitudes, shipping stress obviously wasn’t the breeders fault. But if you want odd colors, thieving otter is the way to go, my shire has nice birds too, otherwise random eBay eggs are an option but it is something of a gamble however you do it!

Also check your local Craigslist (I did this and it worked out great), or search for bird/small animal/reptile swaps near you to try and pick some up in person!

Speaking of Fleabay.
I ordered some eggs off there and specifically messaged the seller asking if his time frame was correct and he said yes.
When I had not received tracking yet I asked about it and he said he was waiting on shipping boxes... That they'll be going out Monday now (supposed to be here tomorrow at latest).

I could have ordered from any number of sellers if I wanted them in two weeks instead of one. And now I have concerns with freshness if he hasn't been able to ship eggs. I trust he's doing the right thing and selling them locally or eating them and not stockpiling them.

Time will tell.
