Hello, I am building a quail coop with a slanted floor so that the eggs roll out onto a shelf. How tall should the gap be for the eggs to roll through? I assumed 1.5 inches so that the eggs could roll out easily, but some parts of the wire net dip down to about 2 inches. Is this big enough for the quail to escape through? What's the perfect size so that the eggs can roll out but the quail stay in? Thank you.

I think you'll only want about an inch gap for the egg roll-outs. About 1" drop per foot of floor and a one inch gap for the eggs to roll out seems to work well. (And if you are using hardware cloth, just make sure you have it facing the direction that will help the eggs roll in, and not catch them up.) Happy building!

Hi I have a question about the wire fit the slanted bottom which rolls the eggs to front while poop goes down - how big the wire holes should be? What product works better , please recommend a couple? Thank you! Marianna
