Quail eggs day 20

if theres no external pips you can open the incubator but before you do, what are you hatching, quails?
If you use the torch on your phone, you could shine it against the egg without moving the egg, and look for an internal pip/movement. You'll likely hear chirping through the incubator, or when you open it without even picking the egg up.
If you do pick it up, dont turn the egg and put it back in the same position.
Ok, I will try it now. Thank you!

I’m on day 24 of gambel quail egg incubation. I did a float test on the 6 eggs I rescued and all look good. I put them back in my homemade incubator which has run between 97 - 100 degrees sometimes varying from that. Do you think these will still hatch?

when you say you did a float test, what did you see?
You aren't looking for if they will float, all the eggs will float- you are looking for movement. I would take each egg and candle with a phone torch, candle from the air cell, hold the egg still, look for veins, look for movement. If you can, photo each egg while being candled and post here.

With the homemade incubator, if it is still air (without a fan) the temp should be 101-102 degrees F, so yours have been a little cool and may be developing slower if they are alive.

Thanks for your reply. I will candle tonight and see what’s going on.
