quail eggs have me going cuckoo!

OK - yesterday if I put my ear near the eggs I could hear scratching.
Today, I hear NOTHING (dead?) yet at one point I was scared half to death as an egg moved - yet
Hasn't moved again.

What the heck? Are they dead? Alive? Toying with me?

It is day 18... cortonix (sp) from ebay.

Oh and yes, I am new at this. 8 eggs.

Usually my quail make absolutely no noise. They just suddenly start popping out. By the end of the hatch they sometimes don't even make a visible pip mark before the eggs are breaking in half and quail are jumping out.

Thank you so much; I just looked and one egg has a crack in it, not a crack like I expected...it is more like a fault line crack not a peck-through crack....

Your post gave me some hope and I do thank you for that. I literally had indigestion for the first time ever tonight over worry with these eggs... I feel like their mama
