Quail don't do well with the medicated chick starter... just use the game bird starter.

You're welcome! I used to use a plastic lid with the flattened marbles in it, but if you have the small quail fonts, you can just ring it with marbles, and they'll be fine. I would suggest the rubbermaid tote to brood to start, just because it will block all drafts. After the first 1-2 weeks, then the guinea pig cage should be fine with a heat lamp in one corner.

I hope you get lots of little ones! The quail eggs do amazingly well when shipped, so I would expect that you're going to be up to your eyeballs in quail babies soon.

How many now rooster? Mine started coming out at 930 pm last night and 4 hatched in an hour...number 5 hatched out during the night and i watched number 6 come out at 630 this am. Number 7 and 8 are not far behind. The two that arent pipped yet are not making any noises anymore..oh well if i get 10 out of 12 from shipped ebay eggs I will be very pleased with that....10 seems to be the magic number for a hatch for my bator anyway Im glad you started this post, Its turned into a quail hatch support group, lol,,,keep the good info coming!
I wasn't sure if i needed to feed and water them right away or if they absorbed thier yolk sacs like chickens.. was about to go a'readin on the internet, glad i got your update first...fixing to go put them guys in the broooder with some water and food...

I got 4,this incubator is magic,I swear!, i have NEVER (only once) hatched an egg with all my try's,,, I through them in this thing i get 4 hatches! two chickens 2 quail !!

What kind of incubator do you have? I made the Miss Prissy Chickbator and this thing is amazing. I will be making me a seperate hatcher this week so i can stagger as many hatches as I want without having to worry about humidity levels.
