I am sure this has been asked many times. But I will go ahead and ask again

When I first got the quail I used Pellets but it seemed to me that more ended up being wasted. So I switched over and they do seem to like it better but still wasting a whole lot.

My other question is I have about 30 pounds in the bag left for pellets can I give that to them to finish it up and not waste it.

And last but not least my third question

What type of feeder is best to avoid all the waste. At best I am getting a 50% waste ratio

Coturnix waste a lot of food. I am assuming you have cots. If you can, elevate you feeder or devise one that sits higher so that they cannot scrape out the food. You can also put 1/2 hardware cloth inside the small feeder to "help" with the waste. It does help but does not eliminate the waste. Or try installing a feeder that they have to stretch their necks outside of the enclosure to prevent waste. There are some good ideas for feeders here on this site.

Wish you the best.

I agree with chick charm. Make a feeder only their heads can get in. And of course you can use up the pellets, break them down with an old blender. Use any feed you have access too and gives you the results your happy with.
