hello everyone, my local feed store doesnt carry gamebird grower crumbles in 50 pound bags, so i got the grower pellets instead, and i would grind them in a blender and give it to them that way, but so far i burnt out 2 blenders and im filling there feed tray everyday, and its alot of work, could the quail eat the pellets? or is there an easier way to break up the pellets? Thanks

What type and age are your quail? How big are the pellets? You could always try it and see if they can. Or you can just put some water in the feed tray, this would make it break down.

What about turkey starter/grower crumbles? Do they carry those? That's what I'm feeding my Coturnix and they do fine with it (mine are 3 weeks old now, but have been on this from the beginning).

I didn't think of that, I was just going by the posted question

I actually feed all my babies (quail, ducks, geese, chickens) Purina Flock Raiser, which comes in crumbles and is 20% protein. I haven't had any problems with this.

To the OP, did you ask them to see if they can special order the crumbles for you?? You could also get a high protein chick starter, that would work just as well.

hello, sorry i wasnt sp specific, there coturnix quail and about 12 weeks old. i gave them the pellets and i was watching them, they pick through it and eat the smaller ones so hopefully they can manage to eat the pellets, we will se lol
