What is the best type of feeder to use to reduce feed waste? I use a chick feeder (galvanized trough with reel) and a J feeder (for rabbits) and my birds waste more feed than they eat. Most of the crumbles fall through the wire.
My bigger pens have the long chick feeders, the others have the base of a round chick feeder. Very little waste, since they can't get in it to scratch it out
I'm using rabbit feeders, with a quart sized cage cup underneath it. What they scratch out lands in the cup. Since the cup is mostly under the feeder, they can't scratch in it. The rabbit feeders are the screen bottom ones, but I cut a strip of feed bag to fit in as a liner
