What type of feeders are you using? Im using a chick feeder like this:

And this is the result: More than half the feed on the ground. There has to be a better way.

Hey! I had the same problem! Same feeder. Here's what I found to be the best solution:

http://www.kuhlcorp.com/cgi-bin/cp-...y-feeders&catstr=HOME:poultry:poultry-feeders

It's a baby chick feeder. The cool thing is they can't kick the food out. The other thing that worked pretty good was one of those metal ones that has the holes on top that they have to stick their heads through. Then they can't kick it out either. But they can stand on it and poop in there pretty easy lol :)))

The Kuhl holds a lot too so refills only once every 3 days or so IF you get the lid for it.

Just do this with your feeder and supply it with a large jar or bucket from above works great 0% waste and I have over 200 adult birds eating from these as well as all my chicks of all ages after the first week

I can't put over !/2 to 3/4 cup of feed in one of those with out them wasting it.
You have to keep the feed level really low in the feeder.
I made one from 2 juice bottles. I got the idea off the web , only the guy used 2 - 2 liter pop bottles.
quail98 has the right idea with his as it keeps the feed level below the holes in the feeder.

THank you quail 98, I need to make up some thing for 6 layer chicks that I have. that should work.

I use the same feeder that you're using but to prevent them from tossing out feed - and pooping in/on the feeder, I just made a small hole on both sides of the top and ran a small metal rod through the feeder and hang it about chest high so they can't get at it except to eat. Works like a charm.

Hey now that's a great idea and a lot cheaper than the Kuhl feeders i'm using!
