Quail feet help!

Ok so I just got her and I’m wondering what’s going on if there’s anything I can do before trying to find a vet for her. She’s
walking on her feet and ankles, being in a wire cage and her walking so low has caused a scab. To me it looks a bit like bumble foot but her feet don’t see to have any puss and liquid inside. I got this picture after giving her a bath she had dried food and poop on her feet.

I've never seen Quail feet like that. Was she kept on wire flooring only?

I'd provide her with some bedding and a place to get off the wire. A bowl or pan of dirt so she can take dust baths too.

She does have some redness to her joints - that may be from sitting a lot on wire too.

I think I'd monitor the feet, since you do not see any pus or lesions at this time. See if she starts to improve within a couple of weeks after she's had some cushioning (bedding), good food and dirt.

For the joints, there are scabs, you can just swab them with some saline, soap/water or diluted chlorhexidine to clean them as needed. If they break open or start oozing, looking worse, apply triple antibiotic ointment after cleaning.

When you say she's walking on her feet and ankles.....is she walking on her hocks? That would explain the irritation to that upper joint. Riboflavin deficiency can cause that, including in quail. I would supplement riboflavin with a b complex tablet or capsule, give 1/4 to 1/2 once a day. The b's are very safe, no worries of too much, you need to get the levels up.

It does look like she needs some time off of wire. An epsom salt foot soak won't do any harm.

What are you feeding her?
How old is she?
Is she otherwise eating and drinking normally?
Does her poop look normal?
