So after hatching my first set of quail and building a cage from scratch, I have now ordered 4 dozen more eggs and started a new build. Well technically a rebuild. Found this old cage/hutch at man’s place here in town.

Even have a couple helpers today. There is a third helper running around somewhere.

I know your pain! I just got some quail babies last week and have them in this tiny little chicken coop. It's those tiny mock chicken coops from tractor supply, that they put out on display. I was about to build their bigger little coop when I remembered I brought rabbits home 2 years ago in this hug, handmade, cage made of hardware wire. I went and found it, and pulled it out of the shed only for all the wooden framework to be rotten & falling apart. Pure disappointment.

Plan B is officially underway. Other than a few 2X4s I had all the lumber. Gotta travel a 120 miles to the big city and will pick up so wire for the build. Hope to finish this project before the birds even hatch
Looking good, much better than the original burn pile find!:lau

Better plan on your next project now, you're going to want another one once you're done with this one. Just saying....you can never have too many pens! I'm not even done with my second and I have already planned the next one. I just want them to have lots of space and have more housing options as I add to my flock...Er, whatever you call a bunch of quail...a covey??
