Would any of y'all happen to know what color variety this is? I'm trying to figure out if it can be sexed by pattern/chest color.
Some have speckled breast and some a light brown solid color?
Nope. No clue...I'll dig around today.
Not a great pic but it appears to be a young bird...hasn't got it's adult plumage, yet?
Yes, sorry the lighting out there is terrible. I'm not 100% sure how old that quail is, I finally found some locally for my solo chick that hatched. I brought them home on Sept 29th, so at least three weeks. I bought ones that were similar in size but a bit smaller than mine. Please excuse my messy, toy covered floor. My little Dennis the Menace woke up early.
I use 28% turkey starter for their entire life, I've had great results
Possibly a Range.
Need to wait until there a little older. If they were Jumbo Pharoah's you can tell by 3 weeks of age. Females will have spotted breast feathers, males will have an orange-ish or rusty colored breast. Therefore, judging by the pics you have regular Coturnix quail, should be able to feather sex them by 5 to 6 weeks. HTH
