I've had a lot of the different breeds of quail. The bobs are more aggressive with the reds being my most aggressive. I do like their color though so thats why I keep a couple around. As far as a meat bird though I would reccomend the coturnix because the tolerate tighter living quarters and mature faster. As far as colored coturnix vs a&ms my family has noticed a taste difference between the two birds, especially eating the breast meat. The bad part about it is that of a family of four we are split down the middle as to who likes which better. I feel the a&ms are more like a chicken flavor where as the coloreds are a little stronger flavored. We could decide so I just raise both. I have however found that my bigger whites don't seem to have the best fertility when it come to hatching their eggs. So we end up eating more coloreds. Just a guess but I would say my coloreds hatch out at about 85% where as my bigger whites hatch out around 20%. This could just be mine though.
